Unparalleled resource of limestone on an area larger than 100 hectares

Limestone quarries located in the vicinity of Süttő in Northern Hungary have been exploited for over 2000 years by our predecessors. The limestone originating from the region was used as a building material in the Roman Empire for ancient Roman fortifications and roads.

The travertine deposits in our quarries can serve architecture of the future for a long time; on the 100-hectare mining area cultivated by Reneszánsz Ltd. there is sufficient reserve of ornamental stones to satisfy demands for the next 400-500 years.

The versatile Travertine

The physical qualities of Reneszánsz Limestone allow for its application both in the decorative and construction industries, in almost any climactic area, even if exposed to freeze-thaw cycles. It is extremely durable, and resistant to salt, frost and abrasion. It can be used equally well for both contemporary and more classical architectural designs.

Technology and Capacity

The extracted stone blocks are processed in Reneszánsz Ltd.’s four state-of-the-art processing mills in Hungary. For stone-processing, as well as for our related commercial and logistic activities, a total of 11,000 square meters of industrial halls and 7 hectares of industrial space provide a suitable backdrop.

As a result of continued investments, our processing mills are equipped with state-of-the-art stone processing machinery. Additionally, 21st century innovative technology is represented by CNC cutting machines, and digital control stone engraving machines that can be used even for sculptural design.

We provide our customers with the latest technologies in preparing full digital survey of buildings, sculptures or other spatial elements, 3D scanning, and a full-scale blueprint for approval. Using 3D scanners and our 3D design software, we make digital copies of the damaged carved stone elements and fix the damages with the software. Then, using the digital file, we use our stone processing machines to produce a restored copy of the original stone element.

Reneszánsz Ltd. was founded in 1948, after World War II to rebuild the damaged stonework of historical buildings, statues, manufacture the stone elements of newly erected buildings and to operate the travertine quarries in northern Hungary. Over its 70 years of history the company has a major role in preserving the stonemason’s profession for the future generations. One of our major achievements is the restauration and reconstruction the Hungarian Parliament building’s façade. Our job included the carving and replacement of 550,000 pieces (15,000 m3) ornamental stone elements to preserve the look of the landmark building for hundreds of years.

After state ownership, Reneszánsz Ltd. was privatised in 1992, foreign investors acquired its shares. Miklos Balogh has started to work with the company in 1970 as a stonemason, in 1997 he became an owner and in 2014 he and his family purchased the majority of the shares, now the company is controlled and managed by the Balogh family.
